Konica/Minolta DiMAGE Scan Dual IV scanner problem!

I have just bought a DiMAGE Scan Dual IV scanner to scan my old colour slides. I succesfully connected it to my PC, which is running Windows XP. At first it worked fine, but after a few scannings the colour slide scans displayed a heavy red discolour. According to the manual I should press shift+control+I to initialize the scanner under Windows, but when I press that button combination nothingh happens.

Can anybody help me out? How can I initialize my scanner to get rid of the discolourisation?

I found a workaround myself: taking the power off the scanner, while it's in action. Sounds dumb, but it works...
