i made over 400 transaction on ebay.co.uk with no problem but it doesn't mean ebay is a safe place, i am a networking guy and i know there's several ways to fake email and logos on email...
this is my proper way on bying on internet

-never trust your own email inbox, just don't believe any email even if they were replies from ebay sellers..always logon on ebay to read replies

-pay for your transation with paypal no cheque or postal orders...or any other mean of payment!

-find out from the seller..make sure the item will be tracked through post otherwise just don't buy it..this is the only way you can prove the item you paid for is delivered or not

basically this is all what i've been doing to keep it safe! but also..be sure your pc is safe too, make sure you have a hardware firewall and all protection for your pc otherwise... a simple trajon or keylogger will copy your key strocks on your keyboard ... you can easely reveal your password or even your bank details...

anyway.. hope this does help.. if you are not convinced just drop me your email, and you will receive an email from your_username@pbase.com as prove of how easy to fake email

I have a very similar story from ExpressCameras.com. I suspect they are all really same crime ring. Exact same tactics. I posted my story in a new thread (ExpressCameras.com - Do Not Buy From) in this forum. I think we need to keep the awareness level of these dirt bags up for sake of helping and saving others from becoming victims. Thanks for sharing.

I also had an issue trying to order from ExpressCameras.com. They're prices were very tempting and I didn't have a lot of money to spend, so when I saw the nikon d70s body for under $400, i went for it. The next day I got an email stating they were out of stock and it was on backorder. Everytime I called to checked the status, it was another 8-10 weeks before they'd get more. And the customer service reps were clueless when i'd ask why they never seem to have any in stock and why they're still selling them online for even lower prices. I was patient at first, but after 7 or 8 months, i cancelled the order with no problems. Luckily my card was never charged, but I worry that they still have my cc # info on file.

BestPricesCameras employ's liars & thieves - don't buy from this company!

I placed an order online Oct.15th for a Nikon D40 & a 512 memory card, which totaled $398.99. I received an email Oct.17 from Chris at Best Price Cameras (chris@bestpricecameras.com) requesting a call to confirm my order.

I added additional items to my pending order & he hastily gave me a new total. I questioned the new amount - which was $592. There were additional fees I didn't agree to & I explicitly canceled the order at that time. Chris became very hostile and rude, stating that I could not cancel the order & I would be charged for the order (the order had not been processed yet). I replied by stating I am not authorizing this transaction or charge to my credit card. Again, he was rude and hostile and stated that I would be charged for the amount.

He did charge the full amount of $592 to my credit charge, which posted on Oct.17. A charge I did not authorize. I have since contacted my bank to report this fraudulent charge. I contacted Chris directly about this matter today, Oct.23, to inquire why he proceeded with the transaction when I clearly stated I did not authorize this order. He responded by stating he did not "know about this", "it wasn't him". Liar!

Hey guys,

I've read through much of this thread. I too have found a website with very reasonable prices. This site is 1wayphoto.com. I have talked to the people who work there and have had a couple different experiences. Occasionally i will get the classic salesman and other times a nice person, not trying to sell me anything. After talking and asking some questions I ordered a rebel xti package. At first the person I talked to said it was in stock, however, I later received an email saying I was on a list for a 3-4 week back order. I am in no rush so this is not a big deal to me. My credit card has not been charged. However, after reading these post, i grow worried. Has anyone heard or experienced bad things from 1wayphoto.com? If so please let me know, so I can cancel my order while there is still time.

@kyle888 - some advise.

1. Define 'very reasonable prices'. A few $$$ less if one thing, but if you find an online vendor that has prices that are too good to be true, they are. And you will be screwed.

2. Check resellerratings.com, as has been posted here and throughout the web. Your selected vendor's rating's are here:

http://www.resellerratings.com/store/1_Way_Photo

3. Do a Google search on the vendor. You'll probably be surprised how much information and how many customer comments you can find on a vendor via Google.

This company is one that belongs on the toxic waste list.

Buy from a reputable site, you'll actually save money in the long term and you'll spend your time enjoying your new camera.

PS - Join PBase and post your photos when you get the new camera!

i wouldn't buy from any place that has the item too cheap.

i like B+H photo but they seem a little more expencive on some things
and when i was trying to find a good place to get Canon's new 40d i tried a lot of online stores and ebay but (i found that you have to call and ask them if it is an import or not) as they will say it a USA warranty but they don't tell you it is threw them not canon, i had a hard time finding a place that was honest and had them in stock (as B+H was out)
but i found https://www.onecall.com/ProductSearch.a ... BCPID=2088 (they only sell USA models:-) so i ordered my 40d on thursday and got it monday:-) and best thing is there price was $75 less then B+H

anyway

I havd the Canon 20d and I love the new features of the 40d and am saving up for the wireless transmitter:-)

Honestly I don't know how come these places haven't been shut down and fined... seriously what ever US state they operate from must have some of the worst consumer protection laws in the world.

if they tried this here (Australia) they would be under investigation with in a week or two of opening their business. They would probably/almost certainly lose their licence to trade and probably be charged with theft/fraud/racketering and possibly also be charged with "issuing threats"

I dealt with Broadway once - NEVER AGAIN!

They have a guy call you after you place your order to pressure you into buying crap you do ot need. They also break the USA kit down and seel all the parts as optional additions. By the time you are done - you paid more than at B&H, JR or Adorama.

I do not trust E-Bay!

Hi I'am new to all this and hope I didn't just make a mistake buying a Cannon 40d and 24 105 /4EF "L" IS USM Lens from Broadway Photo , I'll
know tomorrow when it shows up, atleast I'am paying C.O.D. ..what should I look for to make sure everything is ok?But that other guy was right they did break everything down and want to charge you extra for everything . They got me for batt. and charger 2 high speed cards 1 and 2 gig. and a three piece filter kit they made me feel good about them giving me a warranty on the lens. Bet that came with it any ways.Total came to $2250 any feed back would be appreciated.

There could be a number of different areas of abuse - used equipment, gray market items (non-English manuals, no Canon USA warranty), lens substituted with a cheap one, poor quality accessories, incomplete shipment but billed for everything, etc.

Here are some customer comments for these scam artists. Note, they have several companies that engage in the same practices.

It is not likely you will be permitted to open & inspect the shipment before payment. More than likely you'll be required to sign and pay for the shipment first.

Have you compared prices with one of the reputable dealers, e.g. B&H photo? If you haven't given Broadway a deposit, or your credit card number, you might consider refusing the delivery and order from one of the reputable companies.

This forum has a list of the online sellers with a general assessment. The individual posts provide more details.

Good luck!

I'am glad I asked

Every thing you said sounds like what they where trying to sell me on, I read the reviews you forwarded me and I'am gonna put a stop on my deposit to Broadway photo in the morning and then go to U.P.S. and show them all the feed back on them and have them send back the package back unopened. Don't even want to chance any thing with these guys now. Thanks for all your help and I'll post what happens.
