In our basement, this amazing maze of water pipes and electric coils and oil lines we take for granted as a furnace keeps us nice and toasty...the main source of heat missing from the pic.......fire!

The Detroit Pistons start every game with player introductions and a loud pyrotechnics display. Our sometime seats are close enough to feel the blast of heat every time. No matter how many times we see it, the initial blast gets your attention:

Just checked this tonight and was thrilled to see the topic.. had just read an article on photographing flames in the January Photography Monthly magazine... they suggested a shutter of 1/8...
