Firefox (also called Mozilla Firefox) is a web browser like Internet Explorer, Opera, and Safari.

A good explanation of a browser’s cache is at http://www.webdevelopersnotes.com/basic ... nition.php .(Skip past the sponsored link under the page’s title.). I think dw_thomas is basically saying that the geotagging problem might be solved by emptying your browser’s cache. However, I emptied mine (see my comment of January 3) and it did not help.

Yes! At the time I offered that, some users were reporting that Geotagging worked for them while others had no joy. It seemed stale cache might account for that difference in behavior, but then more reports came in about problems. (I personally never use geotagging, so I was just trying to be helpful! :| )

Hi Dave,Thanks for the attempted help anyway.I've just installed the latest Avast update, complete with a cache clearout but alas, the problem still exists. I do lots of walking and it's kinda cute to look at a map and see where you've gone, :D but I guess I'll have to leave it for now.

The geotagging/map functions are still broken.

On January 10 I sent this PBase message to Emily Neel, site adminstrator.
"The geotagging problem endures. The last PBase message about it I've seen is your 12/9/2013 Forum comment (under "Questions and Answers") requesting browser data from users. I am a heavy user of geotagging. It sure would be nice to see an announcement about efforts to correct the problem. Thanks."

To date I have had no response from her or anyone else at PBase and geotagging is still broken.

I geotag sporadically, but was able to tag this one just now after reading your post. http://www.pbase.com/image/154378866

I wrote to Emily on 27 Jan 2014 about broken thumbs and never received a reply either. Not good.

amoxtli---I can geotag my images too, and if I click on "View map" of any of my photos when I am logged in, I get an aerial view of the area of my photo. In other words, geotagging works for my photos if viewed through my account. But if I click on anybody else's "View map" link, I get a map of the world with a collector-type photo icon in the main areas of the world in which that member has photos. Clicking on those icons does not bring up an aerial view of the area..

When I click on the link in the photo you referenced, I get a world map having three photo icons: one in Southern California labeled “100+”, one in Mexico labeled “10+”, and one in France labeled “10+”. Mousing over any icon displays the actual number of images for that area (example: “808” for Southern California). Clicking on any icon brings up a small window with tiny thumbnails of the images in that area. Clicking on any of those thumbnails displays a slightly larger thumbnail but nothing else. In other words, when I look at your photos, there is no geotagging function.

Thanks for alerting me to this Dave. You are right. I have written to Emily as well. I hope she answers and gets this problem fixed.

Can't this just be put back the way it used to be in the good old days, when I geotagged thousands of my pictures? When I could enter latitude and longitude and in a couple of clicks there it was? Is this really progress?

Four months and three messages (two to Emily and one to Ashlee) later the geotagging feature still is not fixed. What's worse no reaction whatsoever from customer support and no answer to my messages.

I can't get the geotagging to work, either - not even a pop-up window to locate the picture. When I click on "Geotag this photo", I get the map, but no ability to place the photo on it - the three blue buttons in the upper left are inactive. Some of my photos have GPS data, and still no go. Under the photo, it offers "View Map", but that's all it does, and the photo is not located on the map.
Edit: Doesn't work in IE 10 (even in compatibility view), but works fine in Google Chrome. Suggest the developers solve this issue.

Almost eleven months now since this thread was started and Geotagging still does not work, and still no answer from customer support. This feature worked fine for years and I and many others geotagged many images. What is the problem? Will this ever be fixed?

Thank you,

Are there other options where Geo tagging does work?

Is there any update on this problem? Or am I the only one who can't seem to make it work any more? :)

In another post I suggested using the Google Maps "Share and embed map" option under the "gear" icon. You have to zoom down to street level and click until you can get an address location. Then you can click the gear icon and select "Share and embed map" option. You can see this on one of my images - http://www.pbase.com/image/155197580
Use the "Google View Map Link" and not the pbase.com view map link.
