Lots of great entries and I thank everyone who participated. Tough choices and as usual a bit arbitrary. Please ignore my comments if you don't find them helpful.

Honorable mentions, in no particular order:

Walter, what a badass shot. A tad busy and HDR, but I like the perspective a lot
Image

Markus, the foggy view makes me feel like I had a few scotches already
Image

Luxun, beautiful bokeh contrast but not sharp enough in the foreground object for my taste
Image

Jola, I love the soft pastels in the background here
Image

Alla, beautiful composition but flower not sharp; perhaps cropped too much? Great concept.
Image

Szczepan, this is one ugly bird but beautifully rendered with sharp focus contrasted against the blurred background. Apologies to those who find the bird beautiful!
Image

John de Freitas, a stunning image with great light and background out-of-focus colors. I find the bright spots below the flower, right, to be too distracting, but others may enjoy this feature.
Image

Third Place: David Decroix, to my eye, the line of focus, composition, and colors are just right, though perhaps overall a bit busy
Image

Second Place: Alla Gilbourd, Great contrast and use of colors to create an impressionist view beyond the window. This image could be a painting. The darker panels to the left took it a small notch down, for me.
Image

First place: Aldeca, This is a stunning macro with beautiful execution of bokeh. Specific objects in the background can gain a lot of brightness when blurred, and be distracting to the foreground. But in this case, the blurred objects in the background highlight the foreground nicely, and the simplicity of the dandelion (?) appeals to me.

Aldeca, it's up to you!

Thank you very much Ken for the 1st place!
I would like to congratulate to all participants for their excellent contributions.

I don't have the time to run the next contest. I have asked the second place winner to run next context.

Thank you very much,

Alex

I have written to Emily to ask her to transfer the competition to the Second Place Winner. If the PBase framework for the S&T Competition is not used it will run off the tracks again. In my opinion someone should not enter the competition if they can not post the next one. In case they really can't, they should at least write to Emily to keep things going.

Hi Emily,

The winner of the current S&T Competition can not post the next one and would like the second place winner to take over. Their PBase profile is:

http://www.pbase.com/allagil/profile

Can you take care of this as soon as you can please, so the S&T Competition can continue? Thank you so much.

Best Wishes,

Walter

Thank you Walter for trying to get the contest up and going again. I agree if someone cannot post the next context then they should not enter. Does not take that much time to host a contest.

No contest yet...not surprising, pbase is in a dismal decline, the owner does not care about their customers...very sad, take our money and forget about us. Terrible way to do business.
