HELP! My pictures are getting white spots all over them!!!

Post Sat May 15, 2004 6:33 pm

In the last couple of months a lot of my pictures are experiencing a very strange disease: especially in dark areas a lot of pixels are getting replaced with white spots - see for example: http://www.pbase.com/image/22753200
http://www.pbase.com/image/22753210
http://www.pbase.com/image/28233731

Strange enough - these wrong pixels have not been there when I first uploaded them - and I have never reposted since. I've seen other users experience the same problem on pbase. and even stranger: if I download an "infected" pic and open it on my computer it just looks fine again!

CAN ANYONE HELP???

Thanks a lot!

Are you talking about something really obvious or something that requires close inspection? I had a quick look at a couple and couldn't really see anything unusual.

Have you just seen this when browsing PBase on your own computer or have you tried looking at your pics on a different computer?

Did you take a look at this one: http://www.pbase.com/image/22753200 ?

the spots are all over the picture - please let me know if you do not see them on this pic!

yes, I've checked on two different computers (on laptop and one desktop with flatscreen) - could it be a problem of LCD-display??

thanks for more replies!

something to do with ur css code .....

undo this ..... and u will see the differance
Code: Select all
img.thumbnail, img.display {
        border: 2px outset #666688;
   filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.Shadow(
                 color=#979797,Direction=155,Strength=3);

maybe it should be 135 in stead of 155

thanks! it must be something wrong with the stylesheet. but your proposed correction didn't help. but when I changed the stylesheet completely, the points disappeared.

PROBLEM SOLVED:

Code: Select all
}

img.thumbnail, img.display {  filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft;
}
IMG.thumbnail
{
background-color: #666688;
vertical-align: middle;
horizontal-align: middle;
border: 2px INSET #666688;
}
