This is the Kingsferry bridge. The only way on and off of the Isle of Sheppey, going to Sheerness in Kent, UK.
Image
It lifts on average of five times a day causing huge traffic tail backs.
Hopefully, by 2006, we will get a new high level crossing. :?

Cool bridge luckytrev, never seen one like that before. But I can imagine what a pain it would be to sit in traffic that much.

Here's my contribution, 2nd street bridge in Louisville, Ky

This one is at Rendsburg, an hour north of Hamburg, Germany.

Its flat as a pancake there and in order for trains to cross a shipping canal that handles large ships, the railway had to cross it on a high viaduct. To complicate matters, they had to build the town's station at street level and so it was necessary to build the bridge on a big spiral in the town.

This is the Sundial Bridge in Redding, California. The sundial is an actual working sundial. The weight of the bridge is supported by the cables. I read where they built this bridge parallel to the river and then swung it into place. Notice the people at the base to give a sense of scale. - john
