UMAX Scanner POC for tech help

Hi, I need to set up/install/load software for a UMAX flat bed scanner and wanted to know if anyone had any experience working with this company and their tech support team?

I can go either Mac or PC

Oh yes, if anyone has used this machine in the past ... how do you like it?

Adding software really depends on the model. As for their support, UMAX lost my interest when they refused to release updated firmware to allow older models to work with XP. These were not cheap consumer models, but high-end flatbeds costing about $1500 each.

Does anybody know of a place in Southern California that can do a clean and service on a UMAX 2100XL???

I have a 5 year old 2000P (P=Paralell port, remember those!!!?). The scanner is fine, and results are great, BUT

Tech support is non existent!! There is no support or drivers for XP, so the twice I have reinstalled my PC's OS in the last 4 years it's a pain to reinstall. I keep forgetting the TWAIN drivers and wondering why the damnthing isn't recognised.
