Hi Anna, I bought a digital camera that can download via USB port on my computer and also purchased an HP all in one printer/scanner that scans pictures perfectly.

Hope this helps, love your picture so far. You look great, hope to see more.

If you want to consider something other than a scanner try this out:

Be careful. Slide duplicators often fail to compensate for the "crop factor" of a DSLR so you end up cropping your slides severely. It's not mentioned much (if ever) by people selling these duplicators, because they all know people want to use them on DSLRs w/o cropping.

Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED

Post Sun Jun 10, 2007 3:55 pm

The Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED is a great slide scanner to scan anything, even nude images. It is fairly expensive as far as scanners go (~$1100), but you pay for what you get. If you get this scanner and have a lot of slides you should pick up the SF-210 slide feeder attachment (~$400). This will allow you to load up about 50 slides at a time. Sometimes the slides will go through without a problem, but most of the time you will have jams about every 20 slides, so stay close. There is a certain noise that this scanner makes when it is starting to jam. If you catch it in time then you won't have to restart the Nikon software program (the time really adds up when you are scanning lots of slides). You may also want to check out Vuescan's offering as a great alternative to Nikon's software program.

There are also services that you can use to scan the slides for you. I'll have to recommend the one that I operate, http://www.dvdyourmemories.com. We are one of the few companies out there that specialize in slide scanning. The price ranges from 59 to 79 cents per slide for 2000 DPI JPEG or TIFF files.

If you have a lot of slides (over 2200), it would be more cost effective for you to buy your own slide scanner and feeder attachment and do the work yourself.

Or buy a epson 4990 and save money. How big do you want to print? 11*17 is easy from this scanner and 13*19 doable if used right. Your output needs will help determine how much you need to spend on a scanner but the epson also is cheap now that newer models are out and does larger negatives very well.
