Epson 1640 SU problem, faint yellow line while scanning

Its driving me nuts, I tried to open it clean lamp on top area.... 3 TIMES ALREADY.. that the yellow line is Showing in that place.. I close it back up test a scan and it still there.. any idea??

Don't laugh- I have a RED line! Boy that platen is really filthy! I think what you've got is a malfunction, first contact Epson -is your warranty still valid? You know you can buy a new scanner cheap from the Epson Store online- they have a clearance center with very good prices on overstock and closeouts.
