Which Zoom Lens? (PLEASE HELP!)

Post Tue Jun 14, 2005 4:16 am

I'm looking for a zoom lens, but I'm new to photography so I'm not sure which lenses are considered better than others. Could you give me your opinion on these lenses? Are they decent for a new photographer? Are they a good deal? By the way, I have a Pentax ME Super which has a bayonet mount.

Pentax-M 80-200mm 4.5

Vivitar 75-205mm Macro Lens

Tamron 80-210mm 1:3.8

Automatic 75mm-205mm 3.8

What you are showing are obsolete lenses from the manual focus era. If you are new to photography, I suggest you look forward to autofocus lenses and cameras. But since you already have the camera and want to stick with it, I think these lenses are not to bad. But they are all telephoto. Have you thought of wide angle? To get good in photogaphy you are going to require a wide variety of lenses.

All of the lenses are discontinued, but there are still a lot out there. Be be sure you are not cheated, I think you should try a used department from an authorized dealer.
