Recommended len for Nikon F100 newbie?

Post Mon Feb 13, 2006 9:35 am

Hello everyone, I m a newbie to pbase, as well as to slr camera. I've recently got a 2nd handed F100 body from a relative and looking for len now.

I am looking into lens that are suitable for beginner, not too expensive and I don't mind to use non-nikon brand lens.

any suggestion on which len should i go for? what should i look into?

A decent yet cheap lens is the AF-S 24-85 f3.5-4.5. Image quality is good, construction is not bad and outstanding value at under US$300.

If you truly are a newbie, go get yourself a Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens. It'll cost you under $100 used and it will be a lens you'll keep a long time. Practice with the 50mm, it will force you to walk closer or further back to get the shot. You'll learn a lot by starting out and doing this.
