I was wondering what kinds of colors are medium gray equivalent to the light meter?

A sidewalk or street can sometimes work well. Another trick that some people use is to meter off thier hand and then compare it to a grey card to see how many stops off middle grey your hand is. Then if you ever need to you can meter off your hand and adjust as needed. I've never tried it but I've heard from some that it works.

Actually, I think depending on the skin color, usually adjustment of 1 stop is a good starting point for "average" Caucasian skin... as to other skin colors, well you would have to try it... Take a meter point it and compare perhaps to a TTL meter.

I use green or red objects to make the light reading.
Grass or a Fireman´s truck are perfect

Primary red, olive green and teal color are the equivalent of 18% grey.

Do check this Norman Koren's website to check the colour equivalent of 18% grey.
