Sigma 35-135mm for minolta bad lens

Hi there:

Has anyone been able to diagnos a problem when you attach an autofocus lens to your camera, it seems to autofocus fine but when you take the shot, the camera shuts down?

This is what happens to me, I just purchased a used lens, I connected it up to my camera and worked it a bit and then took the shot, the camera turned off. I removed the lens, put another working lens on and still the camera did not function, replaced the battery and now the camera operates fine, but I dont want to attach this lens again until I know what happened, my other lenses work fine.

Any Ideas?
