Basic Zoom lenses on offer for film users

Post Sat May 20, 2006 8:47 am

I bought a Nikon F65 Film camera about 18 months or so and have been living happily with the 28-100G for this time mainly taking family candids and a few basic landscape shots. I would like to get a longer Zoom (70-300), ideally with a 1:2 macro facility to increase usability, mainly shooting wildlife (birds/insects etc). There seems to be quite a few options out there from Nikon and the independents. A lot of the new lenses appear to cater for Digital camera and film, but is it worth me spending more for a DI (special coating) lenses over the traditional format lenses.
Lenses ive considered:
Nikon 70-300G/ED
Sigma 70-300 APO/Non APo
Tamron 70-300 LD/LD DI

I have a budget of £200 and do not want to wait for the perfect bargain to crop up on ebay. I would welcome any suggestions on the above lenses or others to consider. Many Thanks
