Pentax K1000 - STUCK! PLEASE HELP!

Post Sat Jun 10, 2006 2:36 pm

I have a Pentax K1000 where the winder AND the shutter button (to take the photo) is stuck. I had film in there and had taken about 10 shots before it stuck so i just winded up the film and took it out, but its still stuck!! Any ideas on why its sticking and how I can unstick it? thanks heaps!

Change the batteries. On some cameras, like my OM, the mirror will lock up when the batteries are dead.

llung, the K1000 is a mechanical camera and only uses the batteries for the meter. This one may or may not be repairable, but only an experienced camera repairer could tell you for sure.

Vid64 - I knew this was true for the earlier Japanese-made models, but I wasn't sure if this was also the case for the later plastic "made in China" models.

Stuck

Okay, I've had several Pentax K1000's and ME Supers. Sometimes, when there was not enough light to make the shutter come back up, I slapped the camera down a couple of times in my palm and it would pop it back up.

If that works, then remember, it gets stuck if you don't have enough light.
