Canon AE-1 Foam Question.

Hi all. First post here... Dug around through the site and didn't find any answers, so I'll ask:

I have a Canon AE-1. Yesterday I popped the lens off and noticed a chunk of black residue just laying inside the body.I shook it out, then found that it was a piece of the foam that cushions the mirror.

About half the foam is left, but is extremely sticky and has gunked up the edge of the mirror. Can anyone tell me if this is fixable DIY or should I take it to the local [20 miles away] camera shop and have them fix it?

If it is something I can replace myself, can anyone foward a link to purchase the supplies?

Thanks in advance!

I replaced the mirror bumper on my SLRs with strips of black foam cut from foam sheets. Look for "Foamies" at your local hobby/craft store ($1-2 USD per sheet).

Great, thanks.

I was worried that it would require some kind of specialty material.
