Canon EOS-1 in cold climates...

Post Wed Dec 27, 2006 6:23 pm

Hello,

I recently bought a used Eos-1 from a friend in Florida. The camera is in mint condition. I brought the camera up North and the meter in the VF VF started acting up, then eventually disappeared. When I bring it in-doors the meter comes back in the VF but it is all screwed up and hard to read.

First of all, I was wondering what temperatures the eos should be able to work in. The temp. up North is only around 30-40F and I am pretty sure the camera can function properly in a much colder environment.

I contacted my friend and he told he would have it fixed for me when I got back.

Has anyone else had this happen? Any suggestions?

A couple of things which might help. First, always keep the camera in a plastic bag when going outside with it, and allow it to cool down before removing. Same when coming back inside. The reason is moister forming, which can ruin it. Also, batteries can loose charge in when cold, so make sure you have a fresh one which could be part of your problem.

Good luck, and happy shooting.
