Rangefinder Cameras Still Has A Place

Post Thu Mar 29, 2007 4:21 pm

I still love old " Rangefinder" cameras which were the " Point And Shoots" of the mid 60's thru late 70's. For a hiker, backpacker, havbing a light rangefinder was awesome verses packing a larger SLR with a 50mm hooked to it. ( No Mirror , slapping around inside) The Canon QL G III was a great daily driver back then and still a great film camera. ( Mind died in the Sea Of Cortez Kayaking by drinking Salt Water. Love Live the Rangefinder!!!

mad monte, I could not agree more. I have only discovered the rangefinder recently, and I am now in love with my Voigtlander Bessa R2. A "new" old Rangefinder whcih you can put some great lenses on. Easy to use and small to carry.

I am currently shooting with a FED 1, FED 3, Sears (Ricoh) 35RF and have a FED 2 due to arrive this week. I like the retro look of the cameras and the results. You might check rangefinderforum.com. lots of info.
