There seems to have a "blue layer" in my slides

Post Sun May 23, 2004 9:01 am

Hi,

I found that when I shoting with slides and when the weather is good, with sunshines, beach and so on, there will have a "blue layer" in my photo, especially when I shot in Isreal beach and Poland

Some examples are these 2 photos

#1Image #2 Image

I have ask quite a lot of people, some said becase of the UV, some said it because of in correct exposure, some said that I need to add filters, and below is possible solutions I gather

- Adjust exposure
- Add warm filter, such as 81B
- Add UV filter, the blue layer is because of UV
- Film problems

Here are the equipments I used

- Nikon F90X
- Fujichrome Astia 100
- Nikon CoolScan IV ED

Thanks in advance for the help.

Andrew

Or is it because of the "x-ray" machine in the airport?, amm...

Andrew.
You don't say which lens you are using, although I would guess its a wide angle with the camera held perpendicular. The only thing I could suggest is the use of a good UV filter and a suitable lens hood for this type of shot with strong sunlight and lots (maybe to much) of blue sky.
