As a beginner, I'd like to know more about lenses. What does 28-200 means practically when we are concerned about focal lengths. Which value gives the best zoom in or out range.
Any site name for beginners will appreciated as well.

Just to answer one of your questions in the thread, A 28-200 is a Zoom Lens which will take photos over a wide range from a 28mm wide angle to 200mm telephoto. Lenses with just one valuation eg. 50mm, 80mm, 100mm etc. are called Prime lenses, these are usually of better quality than the zooms, but read the link and all will be revealed.

And don't forget that if you are using a lens on digtal SLR with anything other than a 35mm-sized sensor, the crop factor is important. For example, with the Canon 10D, 20D and Digital Rebel (300D), the crop factor is 1.6 so to get the effective focal length of a lens when on these cameras (apart from the very few lenses made specifically for the Rebel and 20D), you have to multiply the "nameplate" focal length by 1.6, so a 50mm lens is equivalent to 80mm, 135mm becomes 216mm etc.

I think you got to get yourself a book to read as your question covers too many issues. You will be totally confused by folks here at the end of the day.
