Removing Blue Eye

Does anyone know the best way in photoshop 6 to get rid of the blue eyes my dog gets when the flash goes off? I'm just learning the program, so I'm looking for a quick, easy way.

There are many ways to do this. What I'd do is just grab the sponge hand tool, set it to desaturate at 100% with a soft brush smaller than the area, then wipe over it. This will remove the color, but not the bright area from the flash. You can go over it with the burn tool to darken it. And you can add color around it also by using an appropriate brown or blue etc. with brush set to color mode or overlay mode (each has a slightly different look...both work but overlay adds more shine) at opacity of around 20-30%.

I do this for "red eye" all the time too. Then I darken the pupil with the burn tool set to shadows at a fairly high percentage, using a sharp edged round brush the size of the pupil. I prefer burning to painting with black since it tends to look more natural. I lighten the iris a bit with the dodge hand tool set to dodge and highlights at low opacity, then color it as described above.

When retouching eyes, you may want to add "catchlights" at the end...bright spots that often occur naturally or from professional portrait lighting. Just use a small soft brush, choose white, then lower the opacity by half to start...adjust till the spots look natural, not too white. Place them both on the same side of each pupil, either left or right depending on the lighting in the picture.

Removing blue eye

Hey there,
I use PhotoELF for removing blue eye on my dog. I just go into the red eye remover on the edit page, and then I use the palette and paintbrush. I select the color and zoom in and fix the color the same way I would remove the red eye on my people pix.
Super easy. So far I haven't found much it can't do. It can be tried for free at:

That's the third of fourth time you have plugged PhotoElf -- do you work for them?

PhotoELF

No, I don't work for them. Actually, I was happy to find this software and I told them I would plug it whenever it was applicable. So, I answered a few questions where I thought the people asking could benefit from this program.
All I ever see is PhotShop Elements, which is great, but very, very expensive. I think it's important to know there are affordable alternatives that do great work.
And I am a happy user.
And I hope it helped this person.

PhotoShop Elements is not expensive, and in fact is supplied free with some cameras. Photoshop proper is expensive, but you get what you pay for IMHO. I took a look at PhotoELF and thought it was just about OK, but without support for RAW image processing, it's of no use to me.
