"content aware" image resizing

just saw this video on youtube describing a new process being developed for image resizing (which they call retargetting). The basic concept is, when making an image smalle, the least important pixels are drop from the image based on an algorithm, so there is less loss of detail.

the video shows some other really cool applications of this algorithm that you can see for yourself.
