Making photos read only

Post Mon Jul 19, 2004 10:57 pm

Is there a way to prevent "right click" save or print options for photos stored on pbase? I'm posting pictures for workshop participants to view before purchasing, but the print quality is so good, I'm going to lose sales! If I lower the jpg quality, the image looks lousy... I'd hate to print COPYRIGHT info right over the middle of the print.

From the ever-informative Srijith FAQ:
http://www.srijith.net/pbasefaq/index.p ... 37&lang=en

In short, the answer is no.

You could consider uploading in a size that's 600x400 - still viewable, but in a size that makes it not terribly worthwhile to print.
For the arty-farty crap, go here:

a 640x480 image at 72dpi should help you out. Keep in mind that your monitor only displays 72dpi so anything larger than that you just providing a larger file for users to download and better quality for browsers to print if they do so.

In other words, a 640x480 image at 72dpi will give you a good looking image on your monitor but not on print for those who try to rip you off.
