The thing about Stauffer is the tender called for two of the original buildings to be left in situ. One, a red brick two story home in which a friend of mine lived as a child, where the present main entrance is located and the other a group of three row houses at the other end of the block left of the entrance. All of of the other firms tried to work around this impossibility as required, but KPMB stuck their necks out and came up with this offering. The other firms all cried foul when this building was selected.
The red brick was demolished and the row house were moved around the corner on to Alfred St and sit adjacent to Stauffer's north west corner. One can see the three walkways in the geotag. Three other monstrous three story Victorian homes were moved a mile west and a smaller bungalow was moved around the corner onto Earl St.
