Dear pbase friends,
My mother died this evening (Tuesday at 5:44 p.m.) I've been on the phone with family to work out plans for a memorial service in Buckhannon, West Virginia at Center Chapel. We have decided to have Mom's body cremated; and to have a Memorial Service to celebrate her life on earth and a new home in heaven according to God's promises. You may recall that she lived the last 19 years in the nursing home since a massive stroke and coma in 1992. I've posted many pictures of her. My Mom is my greatest example for having strength, tenacity, and a great sense of humor, the knee-slapping kind, in the worst of circumstances.
I last saw Mom the week of Thanksgiving and am truly grateful for that visit; I decorated her room for Christmas. Have been sick since Christmas. Thanks much for your thoughts and prayers during this time. Mom LIVED every day, however each day presented itself. She affectionately patted and kissed each hand she could reach from her wheelchair and bed, and today an hour before she died, she was patting the hand of the attending nurse, the nurse (Diane) said. May she rest now, truly rest like the original Sabbath Rest God created. I'm especially grateful to know that Mom was not alone when she died. There were two aides, Karen and Jackie with her ~ an answered prayer. I would have preferred to have been with her. God knows! Loves! Cares!
With Affection & Gratitude,
Carol
