following the discussion earlier...

I agree with your feelings...
Sometimes I'm late on commenting, but then I spent hours to catch up...
I try to do my best!
Like Maire, I use sometimes pictures I shot a few days ago. I prefer that instead shooting in emergency my household items...
I don't blame people who do...loved for instance the toothpaste shot the other day a lot. But I'm working on my own topics and want to have line going through my pictures...
The topics of the challenge are inspiring...
People who do this only as a duty can easily lack inspiration and post crap...
I would prefer then an older image but a good one.
Scott has set his own rule and meets the challenge topics very well... hats up for the quality of his daily work.
I think the main rule is respect for the others, commenting and trying to upload quality pictures which meet the topic.

cheers
Barbara

First red that caught my eye today was a decorative flower in my daughter's hair:

First shot at red: Frozen strawberry. http://www.pbase.com/image/108990798

And just because I am really proud of how I managed to capture red underwater (red is the first colour to be lost -- after about 3m/10ft, red is pretty much gone), I throw in this bonus older image -- a lettuce sea slug from Curacao: http://www.pbase.com/pstubley/image/89775396

I have been following more or less the same approach: trying to participate in the challenge while still following my own constraints. And to try to stick to posting photos that are worthy in and of themselves, and not just because they satisfy the criteria. I have been really enjoying myself, including how I can try to squeeze the colour into my alternating colour/b&w constraint. I think Barbara's last sentence is the most important one: respect for people who are meeting the challenge in their own way.

My "PaD" is actually "picture within the last few days." I am looking at pretty much every picture posted, although I do not always comment -- some images I don't feel qualified to comment on, so I usually comment on the ones that really strike me (and just because an image doesn't strike me doesn't mean it's not good -- just not my thing), and there are many of those. Sometimes I don't get an image's interpretation of the challenge, but I always enjoy looking for it.

Still wish I had noticed the minimalist challenge at the beginning of January instead of the end ;)

As so many of you I have a job and therefor I cannot take pictures every day of the week.
So ...My PaD-pictures are (like Peter) pictures taken "within the last few days"; AND always taken especially for the challenge.
And I try to comment on almost every entry.
I usually don't comment on pictures in which I don't see anything back of the challenge.
Those are my rules, but i agree with others: we all have our own rules.
I also agree that respect for the others is essential!
Kind regards
Maaike

"I saw the Light" The blue came peeking through the grays today and a break in the clouds lit up a tree. http://www.pbase.com/image/108994466/medium (I guess I'm a day late and a dollar short because this one has blues and yellow.)
