NOVEMBER CHALLENGE ~ TRIBUTE TO MAIRE ~ SONG, POEM & PROVERB

We have 6 who would like to redo an older Challenge to honor Máire Uí Mhaicín, who passed away last year.

From her entry:
Thank you all for showing enthusiasm for this topic. I have a number of pmails from others also expressing interest and enthusiasm for the challenge. After some consideration I am inclined to let this topic take its own shape, without too much pressure on people to deliver images as if it were a contest. I think a lot of people drop out of themed challenges because of pressure of time, or pressure to produce new images constantly. All our hard drives are full of neglected images, like Cinderellas waiting for the godmother to deliver a new dress. Do consider some of those Cinderella shots for this challenge also: it may help some of us to refine our processing skills!
I think it would be a good idea to include the title or appropriate line of the song, poem or proverb you might use. In the case of songs and poems, it would be good to provide a link where possible to further information about the singer, writer, author.
Happy singing and quoting to you all!
Máire

Please post a photo for each day of November. Include a song, a poem or a proverb for each.
You may use archived photos... as Maire called them, Cinderella shots.
Let's also use this month to remember that we are not only photographers, we are friends with a common hobby. :)

Lost in Venice....

I got lost and lost and put back together again at the end. It was similar to me, as Hermann Hesse in his poem "Arrival in Venice" describes:

You silently darker channel,
Abandoned Bay,
Ancient houses gray escape,
Gothic windows and Moorish
ornamented portal!
From a deep dream defeated,
Lulled by the death
Asleep at the time here
And all life seems so far, so far!
Here I wish all alone
Through old streets go,
In torchlight
At gondola stairs stand,
In window blind see,
Bang-happy as a child in
the dark.

Day Two

This one is a poem by Henry Lawson
called Possum Land....the poor little guy did land when his nest fell from one of our garden trees
this morning....he would have been asleep at the time, but I'm sure he woke very fast

Wintry gloom...

...enchanted the city for something completely unreal, an image of our inner, all of our dreams and aspirations.
Venice is not colorful, it is black and white.

Day 2

This taken at the Muslim Burial Ground in Woking where 24 Indian soldiers were laid to rest after dying in World War One. Because the burial ground was insecure, their bodies were transferred to Brookwood Cemetery in 1968. The ground has recently been refurbished to coincide with the anniversary of the 1914-18 war.

#2 - Yesterday, upon the stair,
I met a man who wasn't there.
He wasn't there again today,
I wish, I wish he'd go away...
