hi

dont know if this is the right area to post this to? here is my question, i have photos of some defects on elevation of buildings. i need some software to point to the defect location on the elevation, and put a arrow/line form this to a blow up of this in a bubble on the same print out.
does any body have any ideas?

You could acheive this quite easily in Photoshop putting the blow-up on a seperate layer with a circular mask.

Whilst you can do this in photoshop, or any other bitmap editor, it is not the best tool for the job. I have to prepare documents of this nature regularly and it is better to import your photos into the document, especially as documents of this nature tend to be a mixture of text and photos. This way you can give your document a cover and contents page and generally give it a more professional appearance.

I would recommend you purchase a desk top publishing package such as publisher, or one of the cheaper copies, depending on how much of this work you are likely to do. That way you can layout what you want on the page, or pages and set up templates in your own style if you are doing the work regularly. At a push you can also use a word processing package such as word, but it does not give you very good control of what your page looks like. Once you have completed the document, single or multi page, if you convert it to PDF you can then send it by e mail and anyone can read it at the other end and not change it (easily)

There's many free programs that can do a good job for you. If you need an office suite, there's one by Sun that can do about anything you'd want. Basically, it does more than I know what to do with, or can figure out how to use. It's not the most simple, but you might have more experience with these type of programs than I do, which is Zero. But I'd recommend it anytime. It's called OpenOffice and can be found here:
