Nikon 12 - 24mm DX lens & Filters - D80 - Filter Vignett

Post Fri Jan 26, 2007 4:17 am

I have a D80 and want to purchase the Nikon 12 - 24mm wide-angle lens. I want to put a UV filter on it to protect the lens a bit. I've read some contradicting reviews about whether or not there is any filter vignetting I should be concerned about. Can anyone who owns this lens comment?

From what I understand it depends on the specific filter. There are special slim filters designed for wide-angle lenses, you may want to look into that.
Nikon D300, D200
Nikkor 50mm f/1.8D, 55mm f/1.4 micro, 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G DX, 80-200 f/2.8D
Apple PowerBook G4, MacBook Pro
Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop CS3

I use this lens and sometimes use a hoya pro1 filter on it, not the slimmest of filters and no issues, any more screw on filters and you do run into problems, I use square filters with a wide angle lens adapter which also presents no problems even with the hoya fitted . . .
