Post Sun Mar 04, 2007 1:20 am

Have cheap tripod soligor vt950,love that for 2mtr high but that all, need good head for this tripod;ball head, action pistol grip vertical, action grip horizontal or normal 3pt head,my camera with batt, flash and longest lens have over 3kg,
i am afraid after couple monts that ball heads or grips will not be stable and will not stay on dificulty position with heavy loads, any sugestion about that please????
Thanx PP

I would suggest the tripod needs replacing, not the head, given that you say it's cheap. The Manfroto 3001 is rated for lenses up to 300mm, with the 3021 rated higher. I like the 3029 head, but Manfroto do better, albeit more expensive heads.

Sounds like it meets your interests/requirements.

The 3001 and 3029 set me back $175, which I thought was a bargain, although it could be cheaper on the net.

I just purchased the Grip Action Ball Head Product # BO322RC2 as part of a tripod + head kit from B&H. I am just getting used to it, but so far I like it. I use it with a fairly heavy camera Canon MK II.--Rene
