I've been pleased with Shutterfly and MPIX...................... MPIX would probably be considered more professional, but I've had good results from Shutterfly up to 20X30.

I use MPIX. I have had a couple of things printed on their metallic paper. The images look pretty awesome.
I love photoshopography.......

I do all the printing from costco with the download ICC profile.
I just send them and pickthem up the day after on my way to some place.

I sent the same image to both MPIX and photoworks.com. http://www.pbase.com/dick_haynes/image/76293541/largeThe one from photoworks got to me about a week faster, but the image was brightened greatly and had TONES of noise in it. And looked a little colder in the color. The one from MPIX came back and looks just like the digital file, true to tone, color and no noise.

I agree that MPIX looks very good. Also the one from photoworks came in a flimsy envelope and was bent and even crinkled a little. The one from MPIX came in a large flat cardboard box with plenty of protection, and looked perfect.

A few experiences

I've used MPix and have been very pleased, especially with their metalic papers. I don't get the double thick matboard any more. It arrives flat but slowly bows. Not a problem if you're going to frame it.

I've done canvas giclee from canvasondemand.com. I won't use them anymore. I've had pizzas delivered with more protection. The canvases arrived in thin boxes with no padding having been stressed by other boxes being on top of them.

I'm currently extremely impressed with pictureframes.com. I think they are going to give MPix a run for their money. Their services are great. Everything about the process is viewable at every step. They are serious about catering to artists and photographers. They don't use set pricing per size, they price by the square inch. Some may find this intimidating, but I find it helpful for doing odd size prints. They are truely a competetive custom shop. They send paper samples as well as canvas samples for $5

I'm working on a canvas wrap in a floating frame and I'm going to be using pictureframes.com. I'll let you know how it goes.

Hope this helps.

I saw someone's 12x18's from Costco and they were beautiful jobs.
Sort of shocking. I think they cost $3~

While looking around the Net for word of mouth about 3 months ago,
Adorama.com was getting raves and right now they have a deal of
99c for 8x11s. They often have 11x14's for $2.
