Maybe a good idea?

Post Sat Apr 28, 2007 8:29 pm

Hi everyone, I have just read a thread and had a thought  One of the users posted a photo and asked for help with improving it via post-processing. While I do not have a photo on hand as I am writing this as I am thinking :? I know there are users who have expert knowledge of photoshop and are willing to pass on those tips. Therefore, is it possible for someone to post one photo a week maybe that needs some post-processing work and then people play around with that photo, re-post it with an explanation of what they did to improve it, thus sharing invaluable tips that we could maybe all use :?: I would be interested to hear what pbasers think of this idea :D

Jim it sounds like a good idea to me. I've watched this thread for several days, and like you I'd think, amazed there hasn't been response. It might be a good idea to post something of similar nature in "Show & Tell" to round up a few volunteers, then move it over to this forum.

In the meantime, you might enjoy looking through this site where you'll find some excellent tutorials for PS: http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photos ... ps5out.htm

That sounds like a really neat idea. Even the people experienced at processing would learn a lot I think. Since programs like Photoshop etc. are so complex and there are so many different ways to accomplish similar things...everybody would learn a lot I think. There are so many things I've tried and then learned from others how to do the same thing only better, or faster, or in a more sensible way. The people new at it would learn a lot too, and everyone almost is new at certain areas of editing :) . If only people will participate.

Thanks for the replies. Must admit I have been a bit stumped by the lack of response. I am away for the weekend but I will post again in the show and tell with a photo and we can see from there.

I somehow missed this thread. I try to post information on techniques I use in Photoshop and where I got them. I would be happy to take an image and work on it.

Here are two galleries where I have posted information on photoshop techniques.

Just one thing before I post a picture. I don't really want to be posting a full size TIFF or PSD image in the thread. So how do we think the best way forward would be to start this :?:

It's that critique thing again.... Boy I'd love a forum for that, because it will sure get squashed out in Show & Tell.

I find a simple jpeg image is fine over the net, keep the width to about 600 pixels to let everybody view, stretch it to 800 pixels to really show off - but then it might not all fit on the screen for many people.

The ones I put on the web usually fall into that size - as a jpeg.

I see no reason to post anything larger than 800 pixels wide, or 600 pixels tall either since these fit the most common size screen resolutions. To get it going, all it takes is for someone brave enough to post a shot to pass around. I would, but don't think an insect shot is the best to work with. And since that's about all I shoot...

What i will do is post one of my images that has not had any post-processing and see what other people come up with. I will start a new thread in this and see what goes.
