Black N White with Prominenet Red Color item

I want to convert pics in black n white with prominent red color. Like a red apple in black n white pic. I have a digital camera and photoshop.
I will appreciate technical help. Thanks

When i want to achieve such an effect i go manualy in photoshop and select all the things that i need. I use the Polygonal lasso or even sometimes magnetic Lasso tool. WIth this i can select the areas that i want and i am sure that nothing else is selected. Add another layer and convert the background to B&W.

I did this one, just using the magic wand to select the lead & eyes, then select inverse & converted the rest to B&W. It was relatively easy since there are not many other colours in the original image.
