Digital painting in Photoshop Help

Post Wed Sep 19, 2007 10:49 pm

I have several images that I would like to make look like an old, faded, cracked, oil painting on canvas. I know this can be done using photoshop using the fiilters, but would anyone happen to be willing to point me in some type of direction as to how to accomplish this?

If it would help, I am trying to get them look like Edmund Blair Leighton prints... Mainly the first link, but the other two inspre me also:

even a link to a tutorial would suffice.

off the top of my head I'd say using texture and displacement maps would be a start point...

I've a few quirky photoshop books I bought that ended up being more oriented to the graphic artist/graphic designer than photographer - I'll dig them up and see what I can find.
there is no .sig
