Card Failure

Post Tue Oct 23, 2007 9:05 pm

I'm gutted, just back from Spain and my XD memory card has failed, I have not got the pictures onto my pc yet. The card comes up with an error in the camera and is not recognised on the pc card reader,

can anyone please point me in the right direction of some software that may recover the pictures or a company that might be able to?

thanks in advance

Richard

Hi Richard,
Sorry to hear of your problem, I think we've all had it happen at one time or another. If you'll check this thread, you'll find an excellent link madlights (Barri) gives that should be of help: http://forum.pbase.com/viewtopic.php?t= ... a+recovery

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out for you.

I believe if you format the card you'll erase everything on it, and there won't be anything left to recover. :(

Try the PC inspector one...it sometimes can even rescue files on a reformatted card since it doesn't use the pointers if it doesn't have to...or a severely corrupted one.... I've heard people who've rescued some files with this when nothing else worked...ride the spiral gave the addy. I've rescued files even off a reformatted card myself with it...it takes a while though...and it's free. Try taking a pencil eraser and cleaning the card contacts too.
