Lightroom 1.4 and Camera Raw 4.4 withdrawn by Adobe

Post Mon Mar 17, 2008 7:10 am

Just announced by Adobe:

"The Lightroom 1.4 update for Mac and Windows has been temporarily removed from the Adobe.com web site. Those Lightroom users who have installed Lightroom 1.4 should uninstall the update and install Lightroom 1.3.1.(Mac, Win) until a further update can be provided. For those not in immediate need of the updated camera support available in Camera Raw 4.4 or the DNG 4.4 Converter, it's recommended that you also continue working with the 4.3.1 versions. (Mac, Win) This decision is based on the following errors that have been discovered with the recent update:........"

I had trouble with installing the 1.3.1 over 1.4 with a Mac. I had to delete the lightroom pkg file in the hard drive>library>receipts folder.

Spoke with Adobe support today, they said it most of the problems were with EXIF timestamps and Olympus cameras.

I gave up on Lightroom awhile back as it would automatically open when I was downloading images from my card reader to my hard drive. And yes, I had the box ticked "Do not open on downloading (or whatever)". I even deleted and reloaded the software and it still happened. For some strange reason, it also stopped the download of images to allocated folder. As soon as I removed the software entirely, I had no problems downloading. Do I miss Lightroom. No, not really. I use CS3 and it does everything that Lightroom ever did.

It also showed incorrect lens in the EXIF. I brought this up in the Adobe Lightroom forum. They asked what lens I was using and I advised that it didn't matter which lens I was using, it still showed an incorrect one. They didn't respond to this answer!

Cheers
