Nikon D200: AutoISO and flash

Hello pBasers,

Posting one of my daughter pictures on pBase and the metadata just caughts my attention.
Photos were taken with Auto ISO, SB-600 sported with Gary Fong diffuser, and in A P mode.
It turns out some photos with ISO 180, 250 recorded while my lowest ISO setting was 160.
So for my D200 Auto ISO does work with flash photography (so far with Nikon flash gun/bounced)
and this is not what I've read about Auto ISO so far.
Any comment and exlaination from pBasers.

I have read something similar in other forum.
After a brief test, I think I may have the answer, you can try it out later on.

The machine is supposed to restore ISO when using flash, both direst flash or bounce.
For example you set ISO 100, and then launch AUTO ISO. ISO may change to get a correst exposure, for example ISO 400.
Once you switch a flash, ISO will restore back from ISO 400 to 100.
This is not difficult to understand.

In some case, the ISO will raise.
When the flash is not powerfull enough, the machine will raise ISO.
That's why this "problem" usually happen in bounce flash.
You can check the recycle time of your flash, it should take a longer time because of a full power brust.

Simply get closer, the ISO will drop.
If it is close enough, the flash need not to fire at full power, ISO will drop back to the rating you set before.
