Nikon D40 shooting mode

Hi
I usually put the shooting mode on single and keep it there until I have occasion to change it it continuous, or remote or whatever.

Last night, I did some night shots and set it to "Remote immediate". However, after every shot, the camera resets the shooting mode back to "Single". This is very frustrating. I cant remember it doing it when I cahnge to "Continuous mode" - its just with the remote mode.

Anyone have the same problem?

Mine does the same when I set it to the timer mode, I haven't tried the modes for the remote sensor. I read the manual and it did not list any way to fix this. . . if anyone has any suggestions let us know.
