I love taking pictures on travel, mainly buildings and landscapes (you can see my galleries).
I was uses to have a Canon Ixus 80IS and recently bought an Eos 450D, with a Tamron 18-200 lenses as a pack.
Do you think this lenses are good for the type of pictures I usually take or it would be better a 17-50 lenses
Thank you for all your advice
Jose

Hi Jose,

in my opinion your lens is great for travel in a practical sennse: you need to carry only one lens. But the image quality , especially on the wide end would certainly improve with a shorter range zoom. The distortion will be less. If you can afford it, an ultra-wide zoom such as the Canon 10-22 will certainly make you happy if you want to capture wide landscapes and large buildings. (I know, because I have used it and was very satisfied)

you can find a review of your lens at photozone:

and the same for the 10-22:

Best,
Jeroen

I used a Sigma 18+200 on my most recent trip and was very satisfied, people were changing lenses while I was shooting away. A Canon A1000 P&S was great for shooting in more discreet places such as restaurants! Your Tamron will be just fine with your other one as a back up.
