New Hardware completed disaster

Post Fri Feb 22, 2019 2:40 pm

What a bummer. No phone number to call. No response to my emails. Pbase removed my photo above the galleries I had. Tried to re insert. Now it says direct linking denied. But my photo is in the inbox. Piss poor tech support. Anyone reading this? Any recommendations from others to a better more user friendly website host? New hardware completed by pbase. What a disaster.

This doesn't appear to be a 'Technical Question' for the 'Photography' category and might be better directed to the 'Questions and Answers' or check the complaints and status in the 'News' section under the 'PBase' forums category.

There are many threads running in Questions and Answers (https://forum.pbase.com/viewforum.php?f ... d697e6b47e) and an active thread on problems and fixes in the News section (https://forum.pbase.com/viewtopic.php?f ... d697e6b47e ) both areas have had fairly frequent comments from the site administrator.

If my guess is correct, the entire PBase staff can likely be counted on the fingers of one hand, and it's really tough to debug a large complex system and schmooze customers at the same time. I haven't yet done any new galleries since the change, but the comments in the cited news thread seem to imply many of the problems are now resolved.

Have you looked at: https://pbase.com/help/linking
On the home page of my Pbase galleries, I have an image there too and it works just fine, but I have "direct linking" enabled. Also, now that Pbase is https, your browser could be denying linking an image if you have it linked as, http and not https.

I do agree with Dave that managing a complex system can be overwhelming. I manage multiple Facebook pages and groups along with several websites. It is just me and one volunteer that helps with moderating one group. That said, I also think the Pbase management should take time to update their customers periodically. I want to see Pbase continue. I have been a paying customer even before they had to start charging customers. You must keep your customers informed, or eventually you will not have any customers or so few you must then shut down. Even a notice every other week to give an update on what is being done and a timeline would be great.
