Urgent help please, a 'baby shot'

Post Thu Oct 30, 2008 4:42 pm

I am due to take a new born baby shoot in 8 hours (currently 5.39 am Friday morning here) and I have never done this before. I am using a Canon 30D with a Canon EFS 17-85 mm lens, (f4 5.6) and will also take a
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens with me along with Canon Macro Ring Light MR 14-EX and a
Canon Speedlite 580EX 11 Flash Unit. Any basic tips please? I am purely guessing but natural light would be better than using flash via either unit, or at least bouncing flash off the ceiling or wall because of sensitive eyes. I should have done some study on this.....I offered to take a few pics for a friend.....I have a few basic ideas for poses, contrast in size, little fingers holding large fingers, baby feet in hands, tightly cropped close-up of face etc but really am totally 'blind.' I would really appreciate any tips, major pitfalls to avoid etc. Trouble is: I need any help available in a max of 8 hours! Yep, stupid I didn't think of coming here earlier.............

Cheers
Ted
