Epson 2200 photo color help

Post Tue Sep 13, 2005 1:28 pm

I purchased a used Epson 2200 earlier this year. I have yet to print a good photo. The default setting Windows and Epson setting produce very redish prints. I have tried the icm files from Epson - produces prints with a very dark cast. My old HP 960cxi is superior in rendering color as seen on the screen. I use Paint Shop Pro version 9.0.

Has anyone else had similar problems? At this point I am about to purchase a new printer in frustration.

could you find the color trend adjust program in the printer software?

Use paper profile that matches paper type, downloaded from Epson website. In printer software, select "no color management". This is very important. You do not want the printer to add any color correction. Use Adobe RBG or SRBG in your workspace. Any further questions, email me. Spook

Also make sure to calibrate your monitor. If that is off your prints will not come out OK.
Lastly you may want to have a look at this site:
http://www.inkjetmall.com
They carry supplies for Epson and have a wealth of info. on-line.

Epson Photo 2200 color awful

Post Sat Dec 03, 2005 12:29 am

Hi - same here. My 2200 prints green casts on everything. I've been through all of the troubleshooting i can find. Monitors are calibrated (spyder2pro) and still no good results. i'm disappointed that it seems one has to purchase $1500 in calibration equipment to get a decent print from a $700 printer.

If anyone can help, i would appreciate. I am ready to toss this thing and reinvest in a $79 HP that gives decent results.

I have this printer too, and it's been great from day one, despite the fact
that I have "printer phobia" from bad experiences and lack of know how
with previous printers. If you are printing from Photoshop, which is what
I do, make sure that you go into "print with preview" and select "let photoshop determine colors". Then make sure you have the correct color space selected. If your file is Adobe RGB, select that -- if it is sRGS then select that. I have rendering intent selected as "perceptual". When the print
driver menu come up, then make sure you select "best photo" and select
the correct paper type. Also, upsize your file to 350 dpi for Epson printers.
It is usually recommended that you use bicubic smoother for upsizing and
bicubic sharper for downsizing.
