could art paper be printed with inkjet?

hello, is there anyone kind enough to tell me what is art paper, is the paper used in magzines pages also art paper? could it be printed with inkjet? presently, one of my friends wanna make catalogues by himself ,not too much pages .
cos in our country ,we call it copperplate paper (in our own words).
actually, we have a kind of device could basically do the work, but somebody else tell us that art paper also could be printed with inkjet.
anybody tried?
