Feature Addition: PBase Topics

A few of your galleries were blocked from the popular pages because of their content. Many people are offended by seeing any nudity on public areas of the site. So, we have to block certain galleries from appearing on the popular pages. We will have to do this for topics that are full of images that are inappropriate for the public areas of PBase as well. We are not targeting anybody by doing this. I had to do it to one of my own galleries.
I hope this helps clear things up.

Many people are offended by seeing any nudity on public areas of the site. So, we have to block certain galleries from appearing on the popular pages.

But some of us don´t. I can imagine it is hard for PBase to keep everybody happy, but I (a) we have nudes on the public areas and we will continue to have nudes there, and (b) there are other "many people" that don´t have trouble with that, and find quite odd to see that someone gets "blocked" because someone just don´t like it.

Personally I don´t like to see an H bomb in a "patriotic gallery", a child starving living in a dump, or a cold homeless guy triying to sleep in the streets of Hong Kong, but hey, those pictures are in the public areas too. And I don´t feel right to ask them to be banned. ¿Where is the limit?

Even more... If they are in the popular galleries then someone thinks they deserve to be there. Why do we vote if then someone can ask for the pics to be blocked? There is obviously something wrong in that equation.

I don´t want to start a fight. I just want to explain that while this happens then "public areas" are not really public.

be displayed randomly instead of (seemingly) fixed as they are now?
It would make navigation more fun, we'd never know what to expect next...
This could be made as an option, with a box to check, for instance.

Well Dang! Ah, yeah... I put some of my own galleries in my topics, but that was before I knew they were published. And it was an easy way for me to start out my topics with things that I shoot, enjoy and relate to. So, I will remove some of them... but I might leave a few galleries that were voted into MP's if that's okay.

I thought the idea of Topics was much along the lines of Tags on Flickr. So I topocized my galleries...tagging them if you will. I was then expecting a unified database created by Pbase seeding the same topics with other members. That is to say, My panaorama gallery would go under a heading with a bunch of other panorama galleries. Now, I learn that I have to go searching for other galleries that match my topics and add them myself. Considering the huge number of galleries out there won't that might take a long time? Whereas, Pbase already is collecting all the topic names now....why not just start sorting them?

Maybe, I'm off base..but isn't the present system just going to have a lot of repetition as I grab 100 panorama galleries and they are basically the same as Dang's panorama picks?
