A little matter of ethics....

Post Fri Dec 12, 2008 4:33 pm

A little matter of ethics....

Some months ago, browsing over PBase galleries I stumbled upon a gallery
composed of various photos taken from Internet, you know that presumed “silly” and “funny” stuff
which one keeps on receiving by email from work colleagues.

Among those bad quality web pictures there was also a series of good pictures,
which I recognized immediately, because they were of an Italian artist I know.
Of course there was not any slight mention of the real author.

I wrote privately to the gallery owner telling him that one of PBase rules
is that PBase members are supposed to post only photos they have really taken by themselves
and that there is something called copyright to respect.
I wrote simply like that, privately, without any other expression which might sound less than polite.

The guy wrote me back by PBase mail with offensive and rough words,
which translated in a more civilized way might mean that
he could do what he wanted and I had to not poke my nose in his business.

I had not reported him to PBase management,
I had not done anything, and I had simply told him privately that his attitude was not fair.

I didn’t answer his raving PBase mail. I don’t look for nasty discussions with anyone.

Then, a few days later I checked for the Italian artist’s I know sake and I found out the guy had deleted his gallery.
I forgot this irrelevant matter.

Today, browsing casually over the last updated galleries page I found out that
always the same guy had posted a similar gallery again.
I checked to see if among his “jokes” he had posted any photo under copyright
and this time I found that he posted, as his own,
a photo taken by a respectable and talented member of PBase, Marcel de Jong.
I wrote again to him privately to ask him to stop posting others’ photos without mentioning the credits either,
but I discovered that he had put me in his blacklist to not allow my comments (bad conscience?).

So I decided to post that in the forum instead

Here is the link to the original by Marcel de Jong

and here is the link to the photo the guy posted in his gallery
http://www.pbase.com/monminou/image/106945588

I know it’s just a little matter of principle without importance, but....
Best regards to all
Marisa

Well,it was the only thing he could do...
That's all.
Let's hope in future he will enjoy taking his own photos with his own camera

Well done Marisa, perhaps he has read the forum posts and begins to realize that he can not do anything he wants with the creative work of other people.

Thanks very much for bringing this up and doing something about it Marisa. This is a pretty blatant disregard of copyright !

It's amazing how many people think nothing of stealing digital art be it photographs, movies, music etc. Ethics have certainly gone out the window for an alarming no. of people.

This rude insane guy has 6 (or more) different accounts to fool others !
He kept sending DISGUSTING messages to me with anonymous at first ,until
i gradually found out he was actually using MANY different accounts here at Pbase
to FOOL other people .When i find out he is actually HIDING behind like a THIEF
with different faces including sending me harassment pictures i.e (posting his penis publicly !)

I was quite unaware to have deleted what he sent to me ,hoping that he will stop doing it
but unfortunately he kept doing it like a psycho !There is only few evidences left in my inbox now.
i warned him but he keep fooling around saying something THREATENING and PRETENDING ,
saying i am offended his PRIVACY and something like "you seduced me first" or "why you bullied me "
playing an innocent role again with his another account (different ID) showing his wife and kids photos !
until i could not stand feeling DISGUSTING ,pissed off and leave Pbase at the end.

My purpose of posting swimsuit photos was NOT seducing him but to find out who was the BASTARD
who HIDING behind like a THIEF ! i supposed his Porsche luxury car was also stolen from else where ?
In his folder ,he showed off pictures of Marijuana leaf ,maybe a drug dealers playing a photographer here online ?
One day, i find out your post (by search engine) and i knew i couldn't stand silent any longer .
This guy is using MORE THAN 6 accounts here at Pbase ,he might using the same TRICKS to others/
thinking other are stupid and playing innocence and a kind daddy again !

He was the one who is BULLYING others , has not apologize one word and still playing ARROGANT
while people showed him evidences ,never felt guilty but pretending he wanted to protect his kid's privacy
"Don't let my kids know i committed crimes online " "Ask other Canadian folk i am good dad"

http://www.pbase.com/monminou/
http://www.pbase.com/canadadad/profile
http://www.pbase.com/maxwebster/profile
http://www.pbase.com/hockeydad

The same person ,with different accounts ,covered up crimes all the time !
What he had stolen ,was not only people 's original photos .
Totally a Liar and professional actor ,sometimes hiding behind with anonymous
claiming he needs privacy ,always threatening victim to DELETE evidences and
tell them to LET GO ! i suppose i am not the first one here who has been fooled .

i dont know why cant he use only 1 account/ID name to post if he did nothing wrong ,
the way he replied RUDE messages ,his nervous attitude shows he was actually
the SAME person !

Yes ,Marisa .He pretends exactly what you described ,
silly and funny (hoping people LET GO what he did) but in real ,
every line he wrote really sounds DISGUSTING !

He was the only one who enjoys the game while fooling people around .
I hope more victims came out telling the truth !
My case was about 4 years ago ,it was a nightmare.

Again ,he came out with an innocent acting role
"do you want me to close my others gallery ?? "
but then ,nothing really changes .Yet never apologize ,
his other account were still here years later after all ,still fooling people
because no one dare or care to brings out issue .

Run away (from problems he created) like a mice ,but then
came back when the dark nights come . Did he really pay all his accounts ?
Raymond "monminou " his active account ,the one Marisa told here.
It took me about 2years to realized i have been fooled by his anonymous .
his cats galleries are still here ,updating boring garden /close up .
Not even close to calender's technical job ,but into show off camera ,
acting and enjoying praise words like a pro

I felt EXTREMELY disgusted the way he reacted (DEFENDING himself by using different ID).
His BRAINWASHING JOB may be works on other people, but certainly NOT ME.
Making up long stories hoping to violently CONTROL other’s mind , doesn’t make
any sense to me .

I REALLY HOPE INTERNET-POLICE SAW THIS POST AND investigate seriously
EVIDENCES LEFT IN MY INBOX. At least ,someone aware from now on.
If you were not the victim you don’t know what we’ve gone through .
