Are People Still Using This Site As An Artistic Hub?

I have been with PBase since 2008. It used to be used for people to post what they thought was their best stuff for folks to enjoy and critique. It just seems like this is becoming more and more of a porn site. It is almost impossible for you to get anyone to look at your galleries unless they have naked women in them. If you don't agree, just take a look at the popular galleries section every day. I have had a lot of clients that I have done nudes for but don't post them because I think there is more to the art of photography than a pictures of girls racks. I am not professional by no means but I am really thinking of leaving to find another venue to get serious input from others...Just saying :(

I have mostly used phase.com to host my images and link to them from other sites. I mostly photograph wildflowers or landscapes. If you look over the most recent uploads you don't see any porn... http://www.pbase.com/galleries?view=recent&ipp=48

I think the issue is that it's not the amount of nudes we/you/everyone see's on a daily basis, be it in the normal gallery or the popular gallery, its the way PBase presents the images; in one big block group based on time and date. PBase, sometimes referred as PornBase must fall in line with other web sites like; 500pix, FotoCommunity, Photo Camel and PhotoNet is to automatically block out the nude or adult image (black screen) or keep nude or adult images in a separate category and only allow registered members AND members-guests who confirm they want to see adult images have access to the gallery or photo.

PBASE OWNERS! Wake Up!

If this happens it may deter all the hate and or limit the stupidity going on around here.

Lastly. I like to post nude pix and other types of genre too. But I understand the issue.

Although PBase likes to support artistic nudes, we do not want this to turn into a porn site. We are geared towards artists and we want to keep artistic integrity, while still allowing artistic nudes as part of the PBase content. Although we have the best intentions, it is very hard to weed through thousands of pictures and decide one-by-one what constitutes as "art" and what is straight out porn. We are currently working on this ongoing issue, and hope to find new ways to flag such content and perhaps categorize it differently. We are open to ideas and solutions.

PBASE ADMIN,

Please follow the process used by other sites. Simply black out the nude images in the daily gallery so the general public cannot see it. If a person is a subscriber give them the option to set their viewing to 18+ NSFW. If a person is not a subscriber then they must at least have a free account (or whatever the term used is) and have to click the image and concur they are over 18 before the image maybe be seen.

Thanks

We currently flag posts that are NSFW so that they are not visible to the general public. There is also an option in your account settings to make the flagged images visible to you. We will continue to take suggestions and improve the functionality of the site.

Thanks!
