Hi Tim,
It sounds like it was not able to 'log in' to your account. Are you sure you specified the correct username and password in the GUI ?

Also, please enable the checkbox that says 'show debug messages' and let me know if you see anything.

I just tried pbstats on my account - it worked fine.

Sometimes, it is a network or server issue at PBase - trying a little later may also help.

Just downloaded PBStats again and retried

I enabled "Debug Messages" and still nothing

I am at a loss, it worked fine last time I tried it and now it won't

Glad it worked out Tim.
(it was a login/passwd problem)

Fascinating results! Thanks!

I wonder if the stats would be a little more helpful if there was a way to present the ranking / tallies as a percentage of the time they've been available instead of simple raw page views / hits overall. An image that's been on for a year will clearly rank higher and have more random views than one that's been on a week or two -- while the newer one may have a higher percentage of hits based on days available because it's clearly an intriguing photo...

"Relative" stats would be more meaningful to me, especially since I'm constantly adding newer photos to galleries that already contain older photos...

Thanks again!

I've just got around to running this and it works great! Thanks so much for putting it together.

As of 7/13/07, my top gallery? The somewhat controversial often misunderstood graphic traffic content of Roadkill Revisited http://www.pbase.com/donutrun/roadkill, as might be expected -- though it'd been nice if it was the Fastpitch Softball http://www.pbase.com/donutrun/softball or even the Vermont Scenes http://www.pbase.com/donutrun/vt_scenes

The actual 2nd place? Inexplicably, it is "Clementines" http://www.pbase.com/donutrun/clementine -- a silly little gallery that I'm not sure how or why it draws such grand traffic.

Very interesting. Thanks again!

Hey arjunrc,

I get the impression from what happened after I downloaded this that it is not Mac friendly. Is that correct?

The files didn't automatically unzip as they usually do, and when I clicked on an icon in the file, I got a 'no application to open this with' window.

karenmickleson, that is correct. This tool is only windows friendly, unless you are comfortable modifying the included source code to work on mac.

not working??? PBStats 1.3

Post Fri Apr 04, 2008 3:19 am

Downloaded this today & tried to use it...
First, I got 2 errors when installing Perl packages:

C:\Documents and Settings\merlyn9>ppm install WWW-Mechanize
ppm install failed: Can't find any package that provides WWW-Mechanize

ppm install GD-Graph3d
ppm install failed: Can't find any package that provides GD-Graph3d

I also get the following error whn I try running the gui... but my guess that might have to do with the missing packages?

No data sets or points at C:\Downloads\_pbStats\pbstats.exe line 146, <COOKIES>
line 9.

thanks;

Did you add the PPM repository as specified in the README?

Code: Select all
ppm repository add http://theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca/ppms/

before you tried to install the PPMs?

As an after-thought, if you are running the exe directly, you shouldn't have to install the PPMs. As far as I know, they need to be installed only if you want to run the .pl files directly. So your error with the exe may not have anything to do with not being able to install the PPMs.

Yes... but I had to replace "repository" with just "repo":

Code: Select all
C:\Downloads\_pbStats> ppm repository add http://theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca/ppms/
Unrecognized ppm command 'repository'; try one of area, config, describe,
files, gui, help, install, list, log, query, remove, repo, search, tree,
uninstall, update, upgrade, verify, or version
Usage:  ppm <cmd> <arg>...
Run 'ppm help' to learn more.

C:\Downloads\_pbStats> ppm repo add http://theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca/ppms/
Downloading ActiveState Package Repository packlist...not modified
Downloading theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca packlist...done
Updating theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca database...done
Downloading theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca packlist...done
Updating theoryx5.uwinnipeg.ca database...done
Repo 3 added.

running with the .exe's does not make any difference... I still get that error as shown earlier.
IFF I run the GUI with No additional options set, I get an empty report... As do I if I sun the command line:
Code: Select all
C:\Downloads\_pbStats>pbstats.exe -u merlyn9

Hi,
If you are working with the source, the ppm repo add command may change depending on the version of perl you are running.
However, let us leave the source for a while.

I want to understand why the EXE is giving you the same error (it really should not, because others are running it without perl installed on their machines, so I am sure the EXE includes the required package). You do not need to add any of the packages, or use ppm if all you want to run is the EXE

Let's take it step by step:

1. run pbstats as:

pbstats.exe -u yourusername -p -d -password yourpassword

and then let me know the output

Even though I was signed in on Pbase, I had to use that obtion to get my full report. (Using Windows Vista)
Would like to see votes tallied as well. Could that be done?
