Another way to further customize Srijith's useful RSS feed is to use Yahoo Pipes. For example, I created a pipe which starts with Srijiths feed of my gallery, and then filter it only for one gallery "black_and_whites"

The final feed is at http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/7naHwr_42x ... render=rss

The pipe is at http://pipes.yahoo.com/pipes/7naHwr_42xGa8NN0JphxuA/ for those who want to see how easy it is to do this.

Hi,

had a look at it but not sure to understand what it is a yahoo pipe and what is the interest.

Is there a way with Srijith rss system to know if some people subscribe to the feed? Does it require to go through feedburner for example? Is there any interest of using feedburner with Pbase? I have seen that Robert did it. Does it require that you then change the rss address and enter in the html the address they give you (which is derivated frm Srijith rss)?

thks & rgds

Hi, Yahoo pipes has nothing to do with feedburner.(The links I provided had nothing to do with feedburner too)

I'll put it in context of the problem alinla had which was :
"Srijith's feed gives a list of ALL recently updated images. How do I restrict it to only one gallery ?"

The solution: Think of srijith's feed as the input. It would be ideal if you could start with srijith's feed, "pipe" the output of that feed to another process which only filters it for one gallery, and then pipe _that_ output as the feed for you.

If you need a good idea of how many people subscribe to your feed, the best solution is to use feedburner (feedburner.com). What feedburner does is act as a middle-man by coming between the real feed (srijith.com/pbase/xxx.rss) and the subscriber and letting the subscriber subscribe to the feed through them. This way they get to keep a good count of how many people are using your feed. Of course it still does not prevent people from subscribing to the real feed but unless you have publicised that feed a lot, this would not happen that often.

Yahoo pipes is a different beast. It lets you play with the feed data and lets you do cool stuff with it, normally referred to as Mashups http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mashup_(we ... ion_hybrid).

Hey guys. I have this tiny bit problem stuck here. See, I have finished my RSS feed, tested it and all works perfectly, but when I remove an article from my feed it still showed in the reader. How do i get the reader to see the article is no longer part of the feed. Any ideas what's wrong?
