PBase Status

I just renewed my subscription for another year, mostly because I don't want the hassle of moving all my photos somewhere else. But it seems that during the last year, the people who run PBase haven't been participating. No new magazine for a year now, which I see as an ominous sign. I'm wondering...is PBase still a going concern? Do I need to worry?

Yes, I know people get busy, and I'm sure their day jobs are demanding, but a year goes by without a new magazine? That's just weird.

So I would suggest that someone on the staff post an update, let the paying users know what's going on. Just hearing from someone occasionally would reassure us that PBase is still good to go. 'kay? Thanks.

The magazine never had anything to do with PBase staff or owners, it was produced by PBase members who gave their free time to do so. So the fact that the volunteers have taken a break from producing the magazine has nothing to do with the site itself. And that break was well flagged in the Jan '08 edition. But presumably you know all this already if you are a reader of the magazine.

Yes, I knew they were taking a break, I just didn't realize it would be this long. I did not know the magazine people were separate from PBase. Hey, I learned something new! Thanks for the news/update.

The issue I see (no pun intended) is that the magazine is on the front page and anyone coming to the site from the front page would see that as a really big red flag and be leery of joining. I did say something about the contests which are posted on the page being way outdated and that has been up to date but I do think that if other things are going to be dated by a year than they shouldn't be included on the front page. Bad advertising. I am a subscriber and think it's a great site. I just want to see it keep going and growing and that's only going to happen by getting new members.

...ps - yes, I know it's easier said than done and if you take if off than the other half complains that you took it off.
Let's face it ...you can't win.
